Jayson Wallace: The Detective with a Heart for Community



Jayson Wallace, born on October 5, 1979, in Ft. Sill, OK, is more than just a seasoned detective at the Daytona Beach Police Department; he's a family man, a mentor, and a food truck enthusiast. Married for fifteen years to his beautiful wife, Jayson has a 14-year-old daughter and close-knit siblings spread across Orlando and Atlanta.

Having graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022 with an Associate in Science for Business Administration, Jayson brings a unique blend of education and experience to his role. His passion extends beyond the precinct, with hobbies ranging from fishing and boating to traveling to different NFL stadiums, fulfilling his dream of watching football games live.

Currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division as a Robbery/Homicide Detective, Jayson's career has seen notable achievements, including his promotion to Homicide Detective. Now, with over eight years of experience, his focus is on sharing his insights with the younger generation, aiming to shape them into insightful officers.

A motto that has inspired me is, “I didn’t get there by wishing for it or hoping for it but by working for it.

Despite a busy career, Jayson aspires to open a food truck upon retirement, showcasing his culinary skills developed through preparing various dishes for family and friends. His core values include accountability, diversity, and passion, essential principles in law enforcement.

In 2022, Jayson Wallace was entrusted with the role of supervising the Violent Persons Crimes Detectives for six months. This period became a unique blend of learning and teaching, offering Jayson a chance to lead a team and impart new tactics to younger detectives. The experience not only widened his sense of purpose but also showcased his capabilities. Excelling in the supervisor position, Jayson's dedication and expertise were acknowledged when he earned the prestigious title of Detective of the Year for the Daytona Beach Police Department in the same year. This accomplishment stands as a testament to Jayson's commitment and impact within the law enforcement community.

While Jayson isn't currently involved in community activities, he plans to dedicate time to mentor younger cadets entering law enforcement and emphasize the importance of community interaction. A fun fact about Jayson – he's teaching himself to play the guitar, showcasing his enduring commitment to learning and personal growth. Jayson Wallace is more than a detective; he's a multifaceted individual making a positive impact in both his career and personal pursuits.
