Born under the brilliant sun of Al Barad, Egypt, on October 16, 2001, Amou Ring’s life story is a tapestry woven with perseverance, faith, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. As the sixth of nine children, with five sisters and three brothers, she grew up in a bustling household in Australia where love and resilience were necessities. These early lessons would prove invaluable when Amou left her homeland at 17, embarking on a journey across oceans to chase a dream she could barely articulate—but one she knew burned brightly within her.
Amou's transition to the United States was marked by the unfamiliar. The culture, cuisine, and very cadence of life in Orlando, Florida, presented challenges that could have easily overwhelmed her. Yet, she leaned into her faith and embraced the unknown with grace. “Maturity, growth, and constant learning,” she often says, were her tools for navigating this new world. They became the foundation upon which she built her life in America.
At West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Amou found herself not only excelling academically but also on the basketball court. Her athletic talent and disciplined work ethic earned her a place at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she pursued a major in Business Administration with a minor in Global Conflict Studies. Balancing academics with the demands of being a student-athlete was no small feat, but Amou thrived, consistently proving that she was more than capable of exceeding expectations.
Amou’s accolades are as impressive as they are numerous. As a recipient of the 2022 Athletics Philanthropy Council award, a Sunshine State Commission Honor Roll honoree, and a Women of Excellence in 2022–23, she has left her mark on Embry-Riddle in ways few can claim. Her dedication to the Embry-Riddle Women’s Basketball team is not just about winning games—it’s about embodying discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, values she holds dear.

But Amou’s ambitions extend far beyond the court. With dreams of a future in business and sales, she aspires to blend her skills and passions to create opportunities for herself and others. Success, for her, isn’t solely measured by personal achievement but by her ability to uplift those around her. “I want to help others in meaningful ways,” she shares, a goal rooted in her unwavering faith and guided by her favorite verse, Matthew 7:12.
Outside of her rigorous academic and athletic schedule, Amou finds joy in serving her community. From volunteering at Halifax Humane Society to participating in athlete-led events at Embry-Riddle, she exemplifies the spirit of giving back. “It’s not just about what you achieve,” she says. “It’s about how you use your success to make a difference.”
Amou’s story is also one of exploration and curiosity. A lover of outdoor adventures and trying new activities, she constantly seeks out experiences that expand her horizons. This openness to life is a reflection of her adventurous spirit, a quality that has served her well from Egypt to Australia to America.
Her journey has not been without its struggles. Adjusting to life in a new country, balancing multiple roles, and constantly pushing herself to excel have tested her limits. Yet, Amou approaches each challenge with the same determination that brought her here in the first place. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and faith—a narrative she is committed to sharing so that other young Black women feel seen, heard, and inspired.
As she looks to the future, Amou remains steadfast in her belief that the best is yet to come. Whether on the court, in the boardroom, or within her community, she is a force to be reckoned with—a shining example of what it means to live with purpose, passion, and faith. Amou Ring is not just chasing her dreams; she’s paving the way for others to do the same.
