2026

Cultuvue Photography Exhibition 2026 invites the community to pause, look closer, and see one another in a new way. Rooted in the belief that art is shaped by the people it represents, this year’s theme, “Art Becomes Us,” centers real stories, real faces, and real connections.
Featuring the work of portrait photographer James Carey, the exhibition features striking portraits that reflect everyday people, personal strength, and shared experiences. Each image is honest and intentional, offering a deeper look at identity, resilience, and the beauty found across all walks of life. Now in its sixth year, Cultuvue continues to grow—introducing new work that is vibrant, expressive, and designed to spark conversation.
The 2026 exhibition will roll out in phases, beginning with two smaller, curated collections. The first showing will open at Jane’s Art Center in New Smyrna Beach, followed by an installation at the Nicole Art Gallery at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). The full exhibition will launch in August at the Southeast Museum of Photography at Daytona State College, featuring nearly 80 works of art highlighting a wide range of individuals from the Central Florida community.
In addition to the exhibition, the Southeast Museum of Photography will host curated tours for schools and community organizations, as well as free art classes for youth ages 6–12, creating hands-on opportunities to learn, explore, and create.
Each Cultuvue exhibit location is free and open to the public. For specific dates and hours of operation, please visit the Cultuvue 2026 Schedule page.
Cultuvue 2026 is more than a collection of photographs—it’s a shared experience where community, creativity, and connection take center stage.
Photographer James Carey
Through my lens, I explore the interplay of light and shadow, capturing the essence of human emotion in portrait photography. Each image I create is a canvas where contrasts interplay, revealing the intricacies of the human soul. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the power of illumination, I craft narratives that transcend the visual realm, resonating with viewers on an emotional level.
My work is a testament to the beauty found in the subtle nuances of light and shadow. By carefully orchestrating the exchange between brightness and darkness, I strive to evoke a spectrum of feelings and moods within each frame. Whether it's the gentle caress of a soft glow or the dramatic intensity of deep shadows, every element serves a purpose in conveying the story behind the face.
In the realm of portrait photography, I see myself not just as a photographer, but as a storyteller. My portraits are windows into the soul, offering glimpses of vulnerability, strength, and everything in between. Through my art, I seek to illuminate the beauty of the human spirit, one frame at a time.
