What happens when we take the time to truly see one another? That question sits at the heart of the 2026 Cultuvue Photography Exhibition, where photography becomes more than an image—it becomes an invitation to look closer, listen differently, and reconsider the stories we think we already know.
Returning for its sixth annual exhibition, Cultuvue presents Art Becomes Us at the Southeast Museum of Photography at Daytona State College, beginning September 12, 2026. This year’s collection brings together more than 70 portraits and artworks that explore identity, resilience, beauty, cultural vibrancy, and the many experiences that shape who we are.
At the center of the exhibition is the portrait photography of James Carey, joined by fellow photographers Adam Allen and Shank Henry. Through their distinct perspectives, the artists capture people not simply as subjects, but as individuals with stories, histories, personalities, and experiences worth seeing and understanding.
That distinction matters.
In a world where people are often reduced to assumptions, labels, headlines, or first impressions, Art Becomes Us creates space for something more human. The portraits encourage viewers to move beyond the surface and consider the person behind the image.
