D'Andre Jones

"My personal values that guide my life are loyalty, respect, integrity, and empathy. For the motto that inspires me, I would say, "Be the Change you wish to see in the World".

LEARNING CURVE

In the warm Florida sun, where the Atlantic breeze carries whispers of both history and possibility, D’Andre Jones found his footing early in life, guided by the quiet but resolute influence of family. Born in Daytona Beach, Florida, on March 8, 1989, he grew up surrounded by a constellation of role models: a devoted mother, an older brother, an encouraging uncle, and grandparents whose lives were testaments to education, character, and integrity. They taught him that success was not merely a measure of achievement, but of how one carries oneself through life—with respect, perseverance, and empathy.

Education became the compass for D’Andre’s journey. It was more than grades or degrees; it was a pathway to transformation. Yet, that path was far from linear. High school brought a harsh lesson when he failed the FCAT—an obstacle that temporarily barred him from receiving his diploma. For many, such a setback might have seemed insurmountable. For D’Andre, it became a crucible of understanding. “Everyone has their own struggles,” he reflects. That challenge not only tested his resolve but shaped his empathy, laying the groundwork for the compassionate mentor he would later become.

Years of persistence followed. With the unwavering support of his faith, family, and friends, D’Andre earned his GED and rekindled his academic ambitions. He went on to achieve an Associate of Arts from Daytona State College in 2017, a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Central Florida in 2020, and, most recently, a Master’s in Educational Leadership with a focus on Higher Education in Fall 2025. Each degree was not just a milestone, but a stepping stone toward his mission: to ensure that every student has the guidance, resources, and encouragement needed to succeed.

Today, as Advising Coordinator at Daytona State College, D’Andre works at the nexus of dreams and diligence. Supporting student athletes and assisting with housing logistics, he ensures that students don’t just survive—they thrive. For him, the role is deeply personal. “I know what it feels like to face obstacles that seem bigger than life,” he says. “That perspective allows me to be relatable, to guide, and to encourage.” His office, while filled with schedules, eligibility forms, and course plans, is also a space of inspiration—a place where students discover not only what they can do but what they are capable of becoming.

Outside the office, D’Andre finds joy in the world itself. Traveling to new countries, savoring diverse cuisines, and immersing himself in different cultures feed his curiosity and broaden his understanding of humanity. Even quiet nights spent binge-watching Netflix bring a gentle balance to a life of purpose-driven intensity.

His personal philosophy is both simple and profound: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Guided by loyalty, respect, integrity, and empathy, D’Andre seeks to embody this principle in every facet of his life. He draws inspiration from his grandfather and brother, whose achievements and steadfast values remind him of the heights one can reach when ambition is married to principle.

Looking to the future, D’Andre’s vision is expansive yet focused. In five to ten years, he sees himself shaping the landscape of higher education—leading, inspiring, and designing environments that make learning more engaging, accessible, and meaningful. It is a mission born not only of professional aspiration but of lived experience: a desire to open doors for others that he once had to find his own way through.

D’Andre’s story is a testament to the quiet power of perseverance, the enduring influence of family, and the transformative potential of education. From the setback of a failed test to the triumph of multiple degrees and a career devoted to uplifting others, he embodies a principle both timeless and urgent: never give up.

As he reflects on his journey, one truth remains unwavering. Life may test, challenge, and redirect, but with faith, empathy, and persistence, it is possible to rise—not just for oneself, but for all those whose lives we touch along the way. D’Andre Jones has not only risen; he is helping others soar alongside him.
