Blossoms of Hope: Linda Bostick

FEA

TURE

Linda Bostick was born on January 7, 1952, in Melbourne, Florida, and raised in Daytona Beach on the bustling Orange Avenue. As the youngest of six siblings in a tight-knit family, her childhood was a tapestry of simple joys and heartfelt lessons. Whether it was climbing pecan trees in her backyard or running errands for her elders, Linda's early years instilled in her a sense of community and service that would define her life. Her most bittersweet memory was the departure of her childhood best friend, an event that taught her the irreplaceable value of meaningful relationships.

Graduating from Mainland High School in 1970 and later completing her education at Daytona Beach Community College, Linda’s journey into adulthood was marked by dedication and hard work. She joined Coviden (formerly Sherwood Medical Company) and devoted 37 years to the creation of disposable hypodermic needles—an unsung yet critical role in healthcare. After retiring, Linda’s passion for serving others led her to The Chiles Academy, where her presence transformed from a volunteer to a vital, go-to team member.

Linda’s career achievements are only eclipsed by her unwavering commitment to her family and community. Supporting her children through school and sports, Linda also played a pivotal role in initiatives like the community backpack giveaway and food distribution programs. She considers her greatest achievement, however, to be her enduring role as a wife, mother, and public servant—a testament to her belief in the power of love and faith in action.

The most profound challenge Linda faced was the loss of her son, Rodney Mack, at the age of 30. This heartbreaking event tested her faith and resilience, yet it also deepened her relationship with God. Drawing strength from her belief in a divine purpose, Linda channeled her grief into ministry and service, becoming a pillar of strength for her family and community. Through her son’s children, Linda finds both solace and pride, witnessing the legacy of a life cut too short continue to flourish.

I believe that Gods plan for me is to serve His people, keep speaking the word of God, to help people who have been hurt, and are struggling with life.

Linda’s retirement vision is one of tranquility and joy: traveling with her husband Jerome, glamping with family and friends, and soaking in the beauty of nature. Her RV adventures symbolize her philosophy of cherishing life’s fleeting moments and celebrating the present. Whether it’s walking with her grandkids or enjoying a laugh with loved ones, Linda’s zest for life is infectious.

Her work with local organizations, including the Publix and Powerhouse Church food giveaways, embodies her belief in God’s calling to serve others. From delivering bread to hospital workers to supporting school staff and bus drivers, Linda’s kindness leaves a tangible impact. Her humility and tireless efforts have earned her recognition from the Volusia County Home Town Heroes and the Calvary Christian Center.

In quieter moments, Linda’s values shine through: faith, love, and the understanding that life’s purpose lies in being present for those around you. Claustrophobic and cautious of crossing busy streets, Linda’s quirks remind us that even the most steadfast individuals are beautifully human.

As she reflects on her journey, Linda encourages others to embrace life fully. “You cannot take it with you when you’re gone,” she says, a sentiment that encapsulates her gratitude for life’s blessings and her determination to leave the world a little brighter. From the fruit trees of her childhood to the RV parks of her golden years, Linda Bostick’s story is one of resilience, service, and enduring love.
